1969 Vibrolux Reverb:

Power Transformer Before:

Power Transformer During:

Power Transformer After:

This particular amplifier was missing the power transformer. It was also missing the volume pot in the normal channel. There was no real signs of "drama" (burned chassis, torched wires etc.) to indicate WHY the PT failed. The replaced heater wires was a good indication. Perhaps they shorted at some point. This amp came from Mexico, and a lot of these amps that come my way have issues. Anyway, this was one of the HARDEST transformers to find for the longest time.

Recently, they have been made available again by a couple of manufacturers. I ordered one and installed it. You can also see that I rewired the bias balance for a true bias adjust. The jewel bezel was missing as well. I pulled one out of a 1968 parts chassis and used it, along with the volume pot, cap and connecting wires.

Chassis was serviced with a complete electrolytic cap job. You can also see the replaced heater wires, and a couple of other oddball wires in there. I trimmed one of them up and routed it correctly. After I fired her up, she had ZERO problems. No hidden surprises is always nice! This project was completed in 2005.
